The Menghua Railway has a total length of 1,837 kilometers, traversing seven provinces and autonomous regions—Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi—and boasts a projected investment of RMB 170 billion. It is another ultra-long-distance coal-transport corridor in China, following the Daqin Railway (which runs from Datong in Shanxi to Qinhuangdao in Hebei). Starting at Haolebaoji in Inner Mongolia, the railway passes through the following major cities: Ordos, Yulin and Yan’an in Shaanxi, Yuncheng in Shanxi, Sanmenxia and Luoyang in Henan, Nanyang in Henan, Xiangyang and Jingmen in Hubei, Jingzhou in Hubei, Yueyang and Changsha in Hunan, Yichun and Xinyu in Jiangxi, with the line ultimately terminating in Ji’an in Jiangxi Province.
